Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou Granted Bail but with Some Conditions, Trump said he will Intervene

A few days back, Meng Wanzhou, CFO at Huawei and daughter of the Founder was arrested because it was believed that she had violated US sanctions by misleading the MNC banks to remove money from their Iran company. She was arrested on December 1st. The bail seemed tough because the charges on her were quite grave. But the recent news is that Meng has been granted the bail. But for 10 days she had to bear the punishment in jail.

In a court hearing in Vancouver, British Columbia, Justice William Ehrcke announced CAD 10 million ($7.5 million) bail to Meng. Meng and her lawyers were quite happy with the decision. She was so happy that she hugged her lawyers. However, this bail is with a few conditions. Meng will have to wear an ankle monitor, and she has to stay at home from 11 pm to 6 am. The court took the guarantors signature to show that she would not flee.

Further, if the court case goes against Meng then the charges that are put on her relationship to breaking the USA rules and sanctions and misguiding the MNC banks, this may attract 30 years punishment for each charge. The trade war between USA and China is already on the heat and so with this news the stress levels between the USA and China. USA has been accusing that China has been spying the USA. Even USA President told Reuters that if this case is in relation to the national security, then even he would intervene in the case. On the other hand, China has been pressuring Canada to leave Meng immediately. Amongst all these, Meng has been granted the bail and has been allowed to stay at some relatives’ place in Vancouver. Some conditions are already applied on her. She has to abide by them.
